on Sep 3rd, 2009The Best PC Games of 2009 – The Best Is Yet To Come
Over halfway through 2009 and still seems like we’re waiting on what will most likely be the best PC games of 2009. Typically, the most popular and best games are released around the end of the year when sales are huge in November and December. There is still a lot to look forward to with the following games still set for release:
BioShock 2 – This game was originally set to debut in 2009, but it looks like we might not be able to get our hands on it until Janurary of 2010. Either way, BioShock 2 is the follow-up game to 2K Games critically acclaimed and commercially successful BioShock in 2007. It is a first-person shooter that blends fast-paced action, exploration, and puzzle-solving for its players.
Borderlands – From acclaimed game developer Gearbox, Borderlands is a sci-fi/action RPG shooter where you can choose one of four distinct characters to play. Each character has its own individual skill set which grows through the FPS. The player chooses and customizes the character’s abilities to suit their style of play. Although it probably won’t be in the running for one of the best PC games ever, Borderlands should deliver a solid and unique game to its players.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – The next first-person shooter game in the incredible Call of Duty series, Modern Warfare 2 is set for release in November of 2009. The game promises to be an even better shooter experience than its predecessors. It should be incredibly popular due to the fact that it will be available on not only the PC, but for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and Nintendo DS as well. This game has the potential to be one of the best PC games of 2009.
Champions Online – Due out on September 8th, 2009, Champions Online has been receiving solid reviews so far. It is a super-hero MMORPG powered by the groundbreaking Cryptic Engine. The game is looking to go directly head-to-head with current super-hero MMORPG powerhouse, City of Heroes/City of Villains. Time will tell if Champions Online has the power to dethrone the reigning genre champion.
Left 4 Dead 2 – Also available for the Xbox 360 upon release, Left 4 Dead 2 is a first-person zombie shooter by Electronic Arts. The game looks to be an improvement on the widely successful Left 4 Dead game released years ago. It promises to bring more zombie killing action to the table than any other game on this list.
StarCraft II – This is the game that Dawn of War 2 is going head to head against and looking to beat as the best PC game in the RTS category. StarCraft is Blizzard’s sci-fi real-time strategy game shouldn’t disappoint since the company rarely does. The sequel brings back the three race system of Terran, Zerg, and Protoss that players familiar with the series know and love.

There have been a host of great PC games so far in 2009, but the best has definitely yet to come. Only time will tell how good these games really are, but the anticipation is currently very high for the above-listed PC games. Hopefully these games that are considered the best PC games for the second half of 2009 will live up to their expectations.
